UK Law Enforcement Empowered To Easily Seize Crypto Assets

The United Kingdom (UK) has taken its enforcement of cryptocurrencies a step higher. New policies now allow police officials to seize cryptocurrencies belonging to criminals without arrest.

From April 26, police can transfer seized illicit crypto to their controlled wallets, with victims able to reclaim funds from the accounts.

Announcing the new powers, the UK government singled out privacy coins as "not conducive to the public good."

The UK government has enacted enhanced powers for the National Crime Agency and police to seize and freeze crypto used by criminals.

New powers that will help law enforcement agencies seize crypto used for crime came into effect on Friday, the U.K Home Office said in a press release.
