Trending Topic: Ethereum's Shapella Upgrade Brings Mainnet Launch, Staking And Withdrawals On The Horizon

A mainnet deployment date for the eagerly awaited Shanghai upgrade, also known as Shapella, was decided during the network's All Core Developers Call. Given that it will make it possible for ETH holders to withdraw their tokens that have been staked on Ethereum's new proof-of-stake (PoS) network, the Shanghai hard split is a much-awaited upgrade.

The final dress rehearsal for Ethereum's upcoming Shanghai upgrade, more accurately known as "Shapella," occurred Tuesday on the Goerli test network (testnet). The test simulated staked ether (ETH) withdrawals, bringing the highly anticipated upgrade closer to its final step: activating live on the mainnet blockchain sometime next month.

The world's largest crypto exchange Binance on Friday announces support for the Ethereum Shanghai and Capella (Shapella) upgrade and will process staked Ethereum withdrawals. However, the staked ETH withdrawals from the crypto exchange will be delayed for a week after the Shanghai upgrade on the mainnet scheduled on April 12.

The highly anticipated Shapella upgrade of the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain was successfully activated on the Goerli network on March 15,

Binance announced that it would enable ETH 2.0 pledged withdrawals owing to the impending Ethereum Shanghai and Capella upgrades.

Core developers are targeting mid April for Shapella release.

The updrade is due to take place at at 10:27 a.m. UTC, with epoch number 620,9536, developers said at a meeting Thursday. 

Ethereum recently concluded its final dress rehearsal, dubbed Shapella, on the Goerli testnet en route to its mainnet upgrade.
