Circle, the crypto industry giant, is launching a native USDC version on the Arbitrum Layer 2 network, which will help eliminate the bridge withdrawal delays and act as an institutional on and off-ramp. This will replace the current version of USDC, which is bridged from Ethereum, and play a vital role in future cross-chain developments.
The Jimbos Protocol, built on Arbitrum network, lost $7.5 million worth of Ethereum due to a lack of slippage control in liquidity-shifting operations, which enabled the hackers to exploit the protocol's weaknesses.
Swaprum, a decentralized exchange built on Ethereum's Layer 2 network Arbitrum, has allegedly executed a rug pull, resulting in a loss of $3 million in user deposits. Following the hack, Swaprum's token, SAPR, has dropped by 100%, causing investors to suffer. The team behind Swaprum has vanished, and their social media accounts have been deleted. Although the platform's website is still up, their act has immorally resulted.
Arbitrum (ARB) has been experiencing a positive trend over the past week, gaining 14%, and has increased by 3.03% in the past 24 hours. A "whale" investor has been accumulating ARB tokens, currently holding 2.5 million ARB worth around $2.95 million, causing a stir in the market. Despite the broader crypto market's heavy drawdown, ARB has gained 8.5%, recording the fifth highest price gain over the last week, and the network traction is rising, potentially leading to another price rally.
Arbitrum, Ethereum's leading Layer 2 scaling network, has started distributing its ARB governance token to eligible DAOs in its ecosystem. Approximately 90.15 million ARB coins were distributed through 131 DAO wallets, with 125 out of 137 DAOs receiving the airdrop. Trading venues such as GMX, Uniswap, and Sushiswap were among the eligible DAOs.
The controversial Arbitrum Improvement Proposal 1.05, which aimed to return 700 million ARB tokens, has been rejected overwhelmingly by the community, with 84% (118 million ARB) voting against it. Large ARB holders' priorities for platform viability and failure to return tokens have raised questions about future steps for the contentious funds.
Uniswap, a leading player in the DeFi sector, has launched its open-source mobile wallet app for iOS and Android. The app permits trading on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, and Optimism, as well as the purchasing of cryptos with a 2.55% fee and swapping funds between numerous DeFi platforms. After undergoing a one-month assessment by Apple, Uniswap's mobile app has finally arrived on the iOS app store.
The Arbitrum Foundation plans to split AIP-1 into smaller proposals after the community's criticism. They have proposed new governance powers of ARB token holders and have pledged not to move remaining ARB tokens without DAO approval. Large holders increase their share in the Ethereum Layer 2's governance token.
Two large whale addresses have sold 3.73 million Arbitrum (ARB) tokens incurring a loss of over $400,000, but the controversy surrounding the AIP-1 plan is not forcing other whales to sell their tokens.
The Arbitrum Foundation is facing controversy from tokenholders after a proposal was made to give it control of 750 million ARB tokens worth $1 billion, which would fund a special grants program designed to foster growth on Ethereum layer 2. The organization has defended its decision stating that it would be at risk of severe damage without blank check grantmaking power.
