Director of Product Design

The Role

We are seeking a Director of Product Design to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of Product Design. You will be responsible for building and leading a group of product designers to realize our strategic roadmap and take our global products to the next level. You will partner with Product and Engineering to foster a data and research-driven design culture across the company. We're committed to creating a tight-knit team environment that fosters trust, integrity, empathy, and growth. We work together in realizing a shared product vision, and regularly give feedback and critique to each other. Product design at BitGo is a varied experience.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision of our products with a team of talented product designers
• Foster an environment for creativity and growth, and eliminate roadblocks for your team
• Empower designers to grow and develop their own influence within the team and organization
• Focus on practices for recruiting and retaining top talent, manage performance, and provide ongoing coaching
• Provide guidance and feedback for you team's in-flight design work to ensure your team delivers exemplary work consistent with the product and experience strategy
• Inspire and support your team of designers in creating industry-changing, customer-centric solutions that boldly push the envelope of what technology can do
• Work with a diverse group of designers representing different disciplines, skills, backgrounds, and specialties. Partner with Product Design Leadership to onboard new team members so they can quickly gain confidence to independently own their work
• Strategically influence product roadmaps by partnering with cross-functional team members
• Solve problems quickly, establish new frameworks, think on your feet, and see synergies before others do. You can generalize both problems and solutions
• Manage and advocate for balance between consumer needs and internal business needs

Skills & Experience

• 7+ years experience in product design
• 2+ years experience in people management, with a proven track record of sourcing and growing talent within an organization
• Can reduce complex problems down to the right balance of flexibility, power, and ease of use
• Keep pushing your work until all details are attended to
• Are persuasive and humble in explaining your work, process, and decisions and crave feedback to help you design at your best
• Are an expert in either UI, UX, or visual design, but skilled in more disciplines across product design
• You care about details and are excited to keep pushing your work until is pixel-perfect
• Think in systems and are able to extrapolate and extend shared patterns and behaviors
• Love working with other designers to help them learn and grow—and have them help you learn and grow
• Are passionate about BitGo's mission, are dedicated to a user-first mindset, and have experience working with data and insights
• Have 5+ years relevant design experience at a tech, product-driven company
