We are a remote friendly, global team, but provide the option of working in-office in San Francisco, New York City, Indianapolis, Sioux Falls, Porto, and Singapore.

This Member of the Accounting Team will play a critical role in accounting for brokerage-related activities. Specific areas of coverage include: commissions, trading gains/losses, inventory, counterparty balances and fees. They will also work cross-functionally to help us design, automate and implement new systems and processes as we build for scale.

As a Member of the Accounting Team you will:

Perform daily and month end processes including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, inventory calculations and supporting schedules
Interface with brokerage and operations teams to obtain information and work with the Team Lead to determine accounting treatment of transactions
Support Team Lead in implementing Bitwave in order to track company’s cost basis of internal crypto and to support recording of brokerage journal entries
Identify, recommend and implement process improvements and system enhancements
Calculate brokerage commissions and trading gains/losses as well as prepare aging schedules
Record cash and crypto activity and prepare supporting documentation
Assist with regulatory reporting and creation of reports
Support and respond to audit and examination requests
Perform ad-hoc cross-functional projects as requested

You may be a fit for this role if:

You have 3-5 years of related accounting experience and a degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field
You have working knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance
You have excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, and are a proven self-motivator
You have experience with Netsuite, Blackline, Bitwave, Sovos or similar software packages
You have experience in the design and implementation of new controls and processes
You have an interest in accounting for digital assets and evolving markets

Although not a requirement, bonus points if:

CPA preferred but not required
You have experience at a crypto or blockchain firm, or a passion for the industry
You can write Python scripts, SQL queries or build data integrations into Google Sheets/Excel
You’ve helped design custom finance and/or accounting systems
Series 27 or Series 99 is a plus
You keep up to date with the proliferation of blockchain and crypto innovations
